System Engineer (Linux specialised) for Research Projects

Help us shape the next generation of communication with the aircrafts. Be the part of the team designing and configuring the Future Communication Infrastructure. Think out of the box and come up with solutions and test it as prototype. Work in close co-operation with major world aviation players.

Your Main Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain network devices resembling real-world ground infrastructure required for communication with the aircrafts
• Assisting our customers with their technical queries about the operation, configuration and service of the system
• Designing, planning and technically executing changes and extensions to existing systems (change requests)
• Integrating systems and system components into existing system environments
• Collaborating with Product Management on designing and extending/improving products/prototypes
• Supporting transition of delivery project to support phase as well as building up required know how to support handed over solutions
• Drafting/updating technical documentation on systems and their interfaces
• Site acceptance with customers
• Coordinating with product development teams and/or development teams on error analysis and troubleshooting

Know-how & experience (must have) :

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL), including updates, upgrades & troubleshooting issues
• Deep understanding of networking
• Cisco routers configuration (IOS-XE)
• Docker container knowledge (deployment, network setup)
• Professional communication and client relationship skills, even during critical situations and under time pressure

Special skills & abilities (nice to have):

• IPv6 Knowledge, GB-LISP, B2B VPN config
• Bash scripting
• Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)
• Analytical skills to localize errors and sources of errors in distributed systems
• Precise and thorough documentation abilities
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Experience with Ansible
