About the Team 

You will be part of a small cross-functional team, and you will closely collaborate with other Application Engineers, Data Engineers, QA Engineers and Business Analysts. Currently we operate in three application teams and one platform team – all of them are dedicated to the same product. Our teams are distributed in several locations across Europe and India.

About the Product

Our teams are developing and maintaining SPIRE – a product that helps our Non-Life reserving actuaries to calculate the reserves Swiss Re needs to keep on its accounts. In other words, this is a very critical system for Swiss Re. 

About the Tech Stack

Frontend is based on Angular and PrimeNG. Backend consists of several Spring Boot Java services, which are running inside AKS (Azure) K8S cluster. Spring Boot Java services are using RabbitMQ as a messaging infrastructure. We also have several Python REST services and several R REST services. We use Azure SQL database. We use ADF and Databricks for data processing.

We use ELK stack for logging. And we use Grafana dashboards for monitoring. We also use Azure AppInsights. We use Azure DevOps for deployment pipelines. We also use Azure DevOps for ticket processing and project lifecycle management. Code is stored in git inside Azure DevOps.

- Analyze, design, develop, document and maintain Spring Boot applications 
- Communicate with clients and communicate technical content to a business audience
- Serve as professional mentor for junior developers

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:
You are a team player who can navigate in the ecosystem of the existing team and is able to push things forward. You do not wait until you are asked if you are blocked or out of tasks. If you can take initiative and ownership, then you are the right candidate for us.

Must have skills: 
- Deep knowledge about programming in Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with relational databases 
- Ability to take responsibility and ownership

Nice to have skills: 
- Good knowledge of micro-services architecture pattern and understanding of containerization concepts (e.g. Docker). Experience with development and operations of applications in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure. Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
- Frontend skills like Angular, Redux and Typescript or skills with R language.
- Extreme programming techniques like pair programming, TDD (test first). Familiar with Agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban).
