O pozícii

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:

​Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Bratislava, Slovakia and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate, and in collaboration with relevant units at IOM Slovakia, the Senior Project Associate will be responsible and accountable for providing specialized support to Shelter and Infrastructure activities and to the delivery and distribution of non-food items to affected populations.


Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and monitor activities to undertake site assessments and needs for common-use/individual Non Food Items (NFI) assistance.
  • Work with field teams to undertake and coordinate assessments and distributions to affected population, host communities, and other affected communities across the country as required.
  • Monitor and lead site assessments at sites, collecting information on overall services available, including NFIs and other basic needs of the population.
  • Provide relevant feedback to address gaps and implement general best practices programme-wide.
  • Monitor, when required, distributions, assessments and activities conducted by IOM implementing partners, and report back on progress and issues. 
  • Conduct regular in person, telephone or e-mail mapping of collective accommodation sites using the Zite monitoring tool. 
  • In coordination with the ER team monitor the technical and material needs of collective accommodation sites and of needs of beneficiaries. 
  • Prepare reports on housing trends in collective accommodation sites for temporary protection holders. 
  • Update and maintenance of Zite monitoring tool. 
  • Based on assessed needs of collective sites prepare plan for refurbishment support. 
  • Participate in regular team meeting and draft status updates. 
  • Support adequate distribution of work and monitor the progress of staff on the ground, ensuring that assessments, distributions and verification processes are in line with SOPs and local and national cluster recommendations. 
  • Guide and monitor the teams in the verification process both on the ground (door to door) or telephone. 
  • Verify assessment and verification forms are completed fully and correctly, supporting the field team to correct errors.
  • Facilitate vulnerable individuals are supported to access available services.
  • Organize and lead monitoring activities, including focus group discussions and post-distribution monitoring surveys for beneficiaries assisted directly by IOM and through implementing partners.  
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

Special Short Term Graded Contract, until 31 December 2025

​​​General Staff (GVI, UN Salary Scale valid for the Slovak Republic since 1 Jan 2023). Step one of the salary scale corresponds to base salary 2,240.83 EUR per month (income is exempted from taxation).

​​​6 weeks of paid annual leave per year (2.5 days per completed month of service).
​​​24 days of paid sick leave per year (2 days per completed month of service).
​​​Special medical insurance.​​​

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:

EDUCATION 

  • High School diploma with at least six years of relevant working experience, preferably in similar roles. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction/Architecture, or in International relations or related fields with 4 years of relevant working experience.
  • Trainings in Emergency response, Disaster relief management, CCCM or related topic are required. 
  • Driving license B – required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in migration field and emergency response shelter actions. 
  • Experience in IOMs administrative and financial management, budget monitoring and internal control procedures. 
  • Experience in working under the emergency setting.

SKILLS

  • Computer skills: MS Office moderately advanced; knowledge of using the Teams and Zoom communication platforms; 
  • Strong communication and organisational skills; 
  • Understanding the concept of vulnerability; 
  • Ability to take initiative and act with autonomy; 
  • Personal commitment, efficiency and drive for results, ability to work effectively and harmoniously within assigned team as well as in cross-cultural work environment; 
  • Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming; 
  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations; 
  • In depth knowledge of migration related subject areas – specifically in Emergency shelter, Emergency response and CCCM

LANGUAGES

Languages IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

  • REQUIRED
    For this position, fluency in English and Slovak is required (oral and written). 
  • DESIRABLE
    Basic Ukrainian and/or Russian is an advantage.

Language skills might be tested during the recruitment process.
