WHAT DOES A SUCCESSFUL KUBERNETES PLATFORM ARCHITECT DO AT FISERV?

Join our Platform Engineering organization and help define the next generation Kubernetes platform powering enterprise workloads across public cloud and on-premises environments.

As a Kubernetes Platform Architect, you will provide technical leadership for the design and evolution of a strategic Internal Developer Platform (IDP) leveraging Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and GitOps principles. You will collaborate with engineering, security, networking, cloud, operations, and developer experience SMEs to deliver a secure, scalable, and cloud-agnostic platform that enables self-service application deployment.

The role requires deep Kubernetes architecture expertise, strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead strategic initiatives, influence platform direction, and translate complex technical concepts into practical engineering standards and reference architectures.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS POSITION:

• Salary starts from 5800€/m gross based on previous experience.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

• Own the architectural vision, roadmap, and technical standards for enterprise Kubernetes platforms supporting the Internal Developer Platform.

• Lead the design and development of a new Kubernetes platform supporting application deployment across public cloud and on-premises environments.

• Define reusable platform patterns, golden paths, engineering standards, and guardrails that improve developer productivity and deployment consistency using modern Terraform IaC constructs.

• Architect and govern Kubernetes platform capabilities across:

o Cluster architecture

o Multi-cluster management

o Multi-tenancy

o Platform security

o Networking

o Observability

o Resilience

o Disaster recovery

o Scalability

o Operational supportability

• Collaborate with security, networking, cloud, infrastructure, operations, development, and architecture SMEs to align platform design with enterprise standards.

• Lead strategic platform initiatives from concept through architecture, proof-of-concept, implementation planning, adoption, and continuous improvement.

• Partner with product owners and engineering leaders to prioritize platform capabilities based on customer impact, business value, risk reduction, and operational scalability.

• Evaluate emerging Kubernetes, GitOps, cloud-native, and platform engineering technologies and recommend adoption where business value is clear.

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, platform engineering, software architecture, or related technology roles.

• Deep expertise with Kubernetes architecture using GitOps and core platform concepts including:

o Control plane components

o Worker node architecture

o Scheduling

o Cluster lifecycle management

o Storage integration

o Hands on experience architecting and tuning CNI stacks (Cilium/eBPF, Calico), multi-cluster routing and network policy enforcement Policy-as-a-Code

o Security

o Workload isolation

o Cluster operations

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices and automation frameworks such as Terraform.

• Hands-on experience implementing or operating Istio or equivalent service mesh technologies.

• Ability to balance strategic architecture direction with pragmatic delivery needs in an Agile product engineering environment, working effectively with SMEs across security, networking, infrastructure, cloud, development, architecture, operations, and product teams.

WHAT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE

• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS.

• Cloud certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with policy-as-code technologies such as OPA Gatekeeper or Kyverno.

• Experience designing platforms for regulated financial services or other highly controlled enterprise environments.

• Experience leading architecture initiatives across geographically distributed engineering teams.
