O pozícii
Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:
Join Solar Turbines!
As an Associate Software Test Engineer, you will learn how to become a strong QA test automation engineer. You will need to possess analytical, communication, and time management skills, along with a willingness to learn. You will become part of the team responsible for functional and non-functional testing of Solar Turbines’ applications. You will be developing functional test cases and scripts to automate and optimize testing of applications.
What will be your tasks?
As an Associate Software Test Engineer, you will support the QA team in ensuring Solar Turbines’ applications meet high standards of quality, reliability, and performance. You will learn and improve testing fundamentals and build hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing across user interfaces (UI) and application programming interfaces (API) while collaborating closely with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
•Executing functional and non-functional tests (e.g., regression, smoke, integration) for internal and customer-facing applications
•Analyzing requirements and user stories, asking clarifying questions, and identifying test conditions and risks
•Designing, documenting, and maintaining clear test cases and test data for features and defect fixes
•Learning how to create and enhance automated tests (scripts) to optimize testing and increase coverage
•Validating application behavior across areas such as customer analytics, contract management, and turbine data computation/processing tools
•Logging defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and supporting evidence, re-testing fixes
•Supporting test execution in CI/CD pipelines where applicable and helping keep test suites stable and maintainable
•Collaborating with developers and the QA team to troubleshoot issues and continuously improve test processes
•Actively participating in Agile ceremonies and contributing to team collaboration (planning, reviews, retrospectives, refinements)
•Learning and applying quality practices, including test documentation, traceability, and good data handling principles in daily work
This role offers a strong opportunity to grow your QA skills, gain hands-on experience with test automation and modern testing practices, and contribute to reliable software used in real industrial environments.
Who are we looking for?
Basic qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
•1–2 years of relevant experience (internship, student project, or commercial) in software testing / QA or software development
•Basic knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and web application fundamentals (HTTP, REST APIs, browsers)
•Hands-on experience (or strong willingness to learn) with test automation using Cypress and MochaJS (or similar testing frameworks)
•Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and running automated tests in pipelines (ideally in Azure DevOps)
•Understanding of test design techniques (e.g., equivalence partitioning, boundary values) and ability to write clear test cases
•Familiarity with defect reporting and test documentation (e.g., Azure DevOps Boards, Jira, or similar tools)
•Knowledge of Git and basic software engineering practices (code reviews, branching, troubleshooting)
•Good analytical, communication, and time management skills, with a proactive, learning-oriented mindset
•Understanding of Agile / Scrum development methodology
•You communicate in Slovak and English as well.
Top candidates will also have:
•Experience with additional test automation patterns (Page Object Model), test data management, and writing maintainable test suites
•Good understanding of software testing levels and types (unit, integration, system, security, regression, smoke, performance) and when to apply them
•Experience testing REST APIs (e.g., Postman) and validating data in databases (basic SQL)
•Familiarity with Azure DevOps beyond pipelines (Boards, Repos, Test Plans) or comparable ALM tooling
•Basic experience with performance or reliability testing concepts (e.g., response times, stability, monitoring) and non-functional quality criteria
•Ability to communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and accept feedback during test reviews and team discussions
•Familiarity with secure coding/testing basics and data privacy principles when handling customer or operational data
•Proactive mindset, adaptability, and willingness to work with complex domain topics in an industrial environment
•Interest in continuous improvement and quality practices (root cause analysis, better test coverage)
