Health and Safety Coordinator

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:

DP World, the fast-growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Coordinator to join our new contract logistics site in Nitra, Slovakia.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards in compliance with local legislation and company policies. You will oversee safety training, conduct regular inspections, support incident investigations, and ensure all employees  - permanent, agency, and contractors - are trained and operating in a safe and compliant environment from day one.

Your Responsibilities:

•    Actively supporting the design, delivery, and improvement of workplace health and safety training programs that empower all team members to work confidently and safely.
•    Staying informed on changes to health and safety laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, ensuring timely updates to internal practices and providing accessible, expert guidance to colleagues.
•    Coordinating and facilitating safety training initiatives across the organization, maintaining compliance with the Health & Safety Slovak legislation and other relevant regulatory standards.
•    Fulfilling the responsibilities of a Health & Safety Specialist in line with the Slovak legislation (Act No. 124/2006 Z.z.), supporting a compliant and well-informed workplace.
•    Ensuring that all new hires, agency staff, contractors, visitors, and internal transfers receive timely and appropriate safety training during onboarding.
•    Conducting monthly safety inspections and maintaining clear, well-organized records to promote transparency and continuous improvement.
•    Support the creation of a safe, clean, and welcoming work environment by collaborating on the development of work procedures and offering practical, people-centered safety recommendations.
•    Reviewing incident and injury reports thoroughly, ensuring effective follow-up actions are taken and learnings are shared in a constructive and supportive way.
•    Regularly inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety systems—including surrounding property areas—to identify and address potential hazards. Proactively suggesting safety improvements to equipment and processes that reduce risk and enhance wellbeing for all employees.
•    Participating in the planning phase of new machinery, equipment, or process changes by reviewing technical specifications to ensure full compliance with safety standards.
•    Aligning with and upholding the company’s synchronized management system, contributing to a strong culture of quality, safety, and shared accountability.
•    Helping the organization meet its safety and quality goals by living our values and supporting a workplace where everyone can thrive.

Your Profile:

•    A higher education background in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety is a must; Environmental Protection, would be highly valued.

•    Obtained certifications as Fire Protection Technician and Safety Technician authorized as per Slovak legislation.
•    Solid understanding of current legislation and procedures related to health and safety.
•    Familiarity with ISO standards would be highly valued.
•    Experience with managing and maintaining documentation in a structured and compliant manner.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills in Slovak and a minimum fluency level of B2 in the English language.
•    Well-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage time and tasks effectively across multiple priorities.
•    Strong organizational capabilities, with the ability to think critically and apply technical reasoning in practical situations.
•    Comfortable working independently while staying flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
•    Able to absorb new information quickly and apply it confidently in daily operations.
•    A proactive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn company-specific systems, tools, and policies.
