Software Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead our Intuition team. Intuition is the core planning and execution engine of our warehouse automation system, responsible for orchestrating the entire fleet of robots and warehouse operations. Running on an on-premise Kubernetes cluster and built with Python and C++, Intuition ensures optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability of our automated fulfillment solutions.

This is a line management role combining people leadership, project management, and strategic planning, reporting directly to the Director of Software Engineering. You will lead a team of talented engineers, support the product roadmap, and ensure delivery of a mission-critical system that powers warehouses around the world.

Core responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers through mentoring, performance management, regular feedback, performance reviews, and individual development plans
• Build a culture of ownership, pragmatism, continuous learning, psychological safety, and team collaboration
• Identify and develop future leaders and technical experts within the team
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent
• Collaborate with Director of Software Engineering on organizational design and team structure evolution
• Bridge product and engineering to align strategy and roadmap, and share business and domain context across the team
• Oversee architectural decisions made by the team and SMEs, ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance, and maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and testing
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering practices
• Manage project delivery, timelines, and resource allocation across multiple workstreams
• Balance technical debt with feature delivery and business priorities
• Oversee L3 support process for production systems and coordinate escalation and resolution processes (no on-call duty)
• Collaborate with peer teams including product, DevOps, Robotics, and QA to ensure successful delivery, seamless integration, high quality standards, and aligned technical decisions
• Engage with management to report on progress, risks, and strategic initiatives

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years in a software engineering management or line leadership role (5+ years preferred)
• Proven track record in developing, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams, with a strong ability to identify and develop future leaders
• Experience with organizational design and team structure evolution
• Hands-on software engineering background with proven expertise in C++ and/or Python
• Solid system design experience with distributed systems, message brokers, databases, and caching solutions
• Ability to collaborate on the product roadmap while understanding complex business domains and translating them into technical solutions
• Hands-on experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows and best practices
• Strong focus on algorithmic thinking and optimization
• Proven experience driving delivery through close collaboration with engineering, product, QA, and DevOps teams
• Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
• Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and business stakeholders
• Primary work language: Slovak; English proficiency: C1 level

Nice to Have

• Experience with warehouse management, logistics, or robotics systems
• Background in planning, scheduling, or optimization algorithms
• Familiarity with on-premise infrastructure and hybrid cloud architectures
• Experience with performance optimization of production systems
