Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across key direct and indirect spend categories.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Group’s supplier landscape, spend structure and category opportunities.
Build practical sourcing and category approaches for strategically important direct materials, metal components, packaging, energy, services and other relevant spend areas.
Consolidate volumes and requirements across locations where appropriate to unlock economies of scale and stronger commercial conditions.
Lead or coordinate major tenders, supplier selections and commercial negotiations, including Group-level negotiations for strategically important categories such as energy.
Cost Competitiveness & Procurement Synergies
Identify and deliver cross-site procurement synergies across the Group.
Drive sustainable improvements in total acquisition cost rather than focusing exclusively on purchase price.
Challenge historical sourcing arrangements and identify opportunities for:
supplier consolidation,
specification harmonisation,
alternative sourcing,
volume bundling,
contractual improvements,
improved payment and commercial conditions.
Work closely with Finance and Operations to ensure that procurement initiatives translate into measurable P&L and cash-flow impact.
Establish transparent savings methodologies, baselines and reporting.
Supplier Strategy & Relationship Management
Build a structured approach to strategic supplier management.
Segment suppliers according to business criticality, value, risk and strategic importance.
Develop long-term partnerships with selected suppliers while maintaining appropriate commercial tension and competitiveness.
Lead senior-level negotiations with strategically important suppliers.
Implement supplier performance reviews covering areas such as cost, quality, delivery, innovation, responsiveness and risk.
Supply Resilience & Risk Management
Strengthen the resilience of the Group’s supply base and reduce exposure to critical single-source or geographically concentrated suppliers.
Identify vulnerabilities across key materials and categories and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
Support dual sourcing, alternative materials, supplier development and contingency planning where commercially and operationally appropriate.
Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations and Quality to ensure procurement decisions balance cost competitiveness with reliability, quality and continuity of supply.
Procurement Organisation & Operating Model
Assess existing procurement capabilities across the organisation and determine the most effective future operating model.
Build stronger collaboration between local buyers, plant management and Group functions, creating alignment without relying on direct hierarchical authority.
Clarify roles between Group Procurement and local/site purchasing organisations.
Develop procurement standards, policies, processes and tools that can be applied consistently across the Group.
Coach and support local procurement teams, helping them understand the value of Group-wide initiatives and reducing resistance to common approaches.
Where required, recommend organisational changes and additional capabilities necessary to support the Group’s future scale.
Group Contracts & Commercial Governance
Take ownership of strengthening the Group’s approach to supplier contracting, sourcing control and commercial governance.
Ensure strategically important supplier relationships and sourcing activities are supported by appropriate contractual frameworks, approvals and controls.
Improve visibility and control of contractual obligations, NDAs, pricing mechanisms, indexation, payment terms, service expectations, qualification requirements and renewal dates.
Partner with Legal, Finance, Quality and R&D on complex commercial agreements, supplier qualification requirements and negotiations.
Procurement Data, Systems & Analytics
Establish greater transparency around spend, suppliers, pricing and procurement performance.
Develop reliable procurement reporting and KPIs for management decision-making.
Work with the wider Supply Chain organisation to ensure procurement data is integrated into the Group’s broader systems and planning environment.
Use data and market intelligence to support negotiations, category decisions and supplier strategies.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement data, tools and digital capabilities over time as the Group Procurement function matures; major ERP harmonisation is not an immediate priority.
Outsourcing, Growth & Integration
Support and accelerate the Group’s increasing use of external manufacturing and outsourcing partners, including suppliers capable of delivering finished products or components.
Establish robust commercial and contractual frameworks for outsourced production and coordinate supplier qualification with Operations, Quality and R&D.
Identify opportunities to increase outsourcing flexibility, capacity and supply resilience where commercially and operationally attractive.
Support acquisitions, integrations, new products and capacity-growth initiatives by assessing supplier bases, contracts, purchasing conditions and procurement synergies where relevant.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Work as a close partner to the Group Supply Chain Director and broader Operations organisation.
Collaborate extensively with Plant Directors, Supply Chain Managers, Finance, Quality, Engineering, R&D and Commercial teams.
Understand operational and customer requirements before developing sourcing strategies.
Influence local and functional stakeholders without direct authority, constructively challenge site preferences and build support for solutions that create a better overall result for the Group.
