About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Legal to lead Brightpick’s legal function. You’ll work with our in-house team, manage outside counsel, and partner with the CEO and CFO on commercial, corporate, and strategic matters across our international robotics business. This role sits at the intersection of deals, investor relations, IP, and global operations — from negotiating system integrator agreements to reviewing investment documents and advising on cross-border employment issues. Core responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer agreements (supply agreements, SOWs, amendments)
• Negotiate partner and integrator agreements (MSAs, reseller, channel partnerships)
• Maintain contract templates and playbooks aligned with business and risk priorities
• Efficiently manage high-volume NDAs
• Maintain corporate records and governance for a US parent with a Slovak subsidiary
• Support financing and equity transactions (convertibles, term sheets, investor docs)
• Ensure governance best practices, including insurance and officer arrangements
• Oversee annual compliance and reporting in both jurisdictions
• Intellectual Property
• Lead IP strategy, including patents and trade secrets for robotics technology
• Draft and review US employment and contractor agreements
• Handle cross-border employment matters (US–EU/Slovakia)
• Support HR with policies, offers, and employee matters
• Lead and develop the legal function and internal processes
• Manage and coordinate outside counsel across jurisdictions
• Own legal budget and sourcing strategy (in-house vs. external)

Requirements:

• Law degree and qualification to practice in Slovakia (or another EU jurisdiction with willingness to requalify); US bar admission or strong familiarity with US commercial law is a significant plus
• 8–14 years of legal experience, with a strong foundation in commercial contracts; a mix of law firm and in-house experience is ideal
• Demonstrated ability to lead a legal function — you’re comfortable building processes from scratch, not just following them
• Experience with technology or hardware companies; robotics, automation, or industrial technology experience is a strong plus
• Familiarity with venture financing documents (convertible notes, SAFEs, CLAs, preferred equity rounds)
• Comfort with cross-border legal matters, particularly US-EU operations; experience with Delaware corporate law and Slovak commercial law is highly valued
• Strong commercial instinct — you understand that legal exists to enable deals, not block them, and you know how to find the right risk/reward balance
• Excellent drafting skills in English (native or near-native level required); Slovak language proficiency is a plus
• Willingness to use modern tools, including AI-assisted contract review, to work efficiently as a lean legal team
