Your Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end data and automation solutions to support actuarial reserving processes
• Collaborate with actuaries to understand the requirements of reserving, reporting, and related workflows
• Develop and test prototype solutions, iterating based on feedback from stakeholders
• Automate manual steps in the reserving process to increase efficiency and reduce risk
• Productionise solutions using Dataiku and other relevant technologies.
• Integrate financial, ceded, and claims data into actuarial workflows, ensuring consistency and reliability
• Apply DevOps principles for development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of data solutions
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools in Power BI for both actuarial users and wider business stakeholders
• Gain and maintain expertise in the key technologies used by the team, including Snowflake, Dataiku, Power BI, and Excel automation tools
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, advising the team on potential improvements and innovations
• Operate within the broader enterprise technology and data governance framework

Experience Required:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer: Development of Data Pipelines, Data Transformations, and Data warehousing

Your skills

• Strong programming skills in at least one of the following: Python, SQL (including procedural scripting), or VBA (for Excel automation and ODBC connectivity), along with knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems; additional experience across these areas is an advantage
• Ability to translate business requirements into efficient, scalable processes using code and relevant software tools
• Understanding of development lifecycles and governance frameworks to build, maintain, and document robust solutions
• Experience delivering end-to-end solutions that meet the needs of diverse stakeholders across teams
• Project management experience in a dynamic environment, working within the constraints and context of a broader organisational development framework
• Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

• Ability to design, build, and deploy interactive user interfaces for data exploration and interrogation
• Innovative mindset with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies such as Snowflake, Dataiku, Power BI, or Dash
• Experience in the insurance industry or actuarial domain is a strong advantage
• Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders
• Open-minded approach and broad experience in IT systems and technology integration
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning, with a desire to stay current on emerging trends and applications
