Senior Accounting Specialist (GL / Process Improvement)

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:

We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist (GL / Process Improvement) to support our local Slovakia Accounting team in investigating and resolving accounting issues related to shared services.

In this role, you will work closely with both local and centralized accounting teams to understand the root cause of accounting issues, align stakeholders on the appropriate accounting treatment and corrective actions, and provide hands-on accounting support while issues are being resolved.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting or audit professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working across teams, and improving accounting processes and controls.

What Will You Do?

• Investigate and resolve accounting issues from shared services through root cause analysis.

• Review transactions, reconciliations, processes, controls, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies and their causes.

• Partner with local and shared services teams to agree on accounting treatment, corrective actions, and responsibilities.

• Document findings, decisions, recommendations, and support issue resolution through to completion.

• Provide parallel accounting support and validate corrections and accounting entries.

• Maintain accurate financial records and reporting in line with GAAP and company standards.

• Monitor open issues and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders.

• Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation.

• Manage multiple priorities and use data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.

• Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the accounting organization.

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:

What You Have:

• 5+ years of relevant accounting or audit experience, preferably gained in a large, international, or complex organization and/or an audit firm.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and sound accounting judgment.

• Ability to analyze and clearly document medium-to-complex accounting issues.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with local and centralized teams.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing requirements.

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in a shared services / centralized accounting environment.

• Previous experience collaborating with local and global accounting teams.

• Experience in a multinational or complex corporate environment.

• Experience with SAP, particularly Finance/Accounting modules.

• Experience with Power BI or other data analysis and reporting tools.

• Knowledge of additional accounting or ERP software.

• Experience with process improvement, internal controls, or accounting transformation initiatives.

• Audit experience, particularly involving complex accounting processes or financial controls.

• Familiarity with GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
