Head of Software Product Engineering

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:
Our client, a global organisation, with over 600 employees, in 10 countries, is now looking to hire a Head of Product Engineering. Their portfolio consists of a business that holds top positions in 5 countries.

As Head of Product Engineering, who reports directly to the CTO, you will lead the group’s transformation journey, shaping and scaling the Product Engineering department in line with the company’s business and product vision. Your role will be to deliver the vision of white-label, multi-tenant solutions that develop the company’s core product lines, enabling the expansion of our diverse brands and improving customer interactions across multiple products.

You are an engineering leader who builds the product’s technical strategy.
You will lead engineering teams in the design, implementation, and evolution of complex, scalable capabilities shared across the entire platform and organization. As a technical leader, you will champion best practices, performance management, and outcome-oriented development. You will guide teams toward full ownership and accountability for key areas of the platform and lead the adoption of new technical approaches and principles that transform the entire engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and shape highly capable, autonomous product engineering teams responsible for designing and implementing products across the technology platform, with a strong focus on rapid iteration and scalable features and processes.
• Build a culture of product engineering through close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product, Content, SEO, Paid Marketing, and Operations.
• Work closely with key stakeholders across the company and the engineering organization on the development of components and services and on executing technical roadmaps, bringing the product vision to life while ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term scalability.
• Promote engineering excellence and leadership across the organization, focusing on effective interdisciplinary collaboration and end-to-end ownership—from rapid prototyping to delivery—while ensuring simplicity, sustainability, and scalability of implementations.
• Contribute to the introduction of department-level processes and best practices to ensure effective collaboration across engineering domains, continuous focus on efficiency, and fast decision-making supported by technical alignment and a data-driven approach, including incident management and the gradual adoption of resilient, self-healing solutions.
• Provide continuous leadership, operational management, and support to ensure ongoing growth and improvement of the entire engineering organization.

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:
• professional experience in technical management, building, leading, and motivating product engineering teams that deliver and operate high-quality customer products and large platforms. Hands-on technical experience is required.
• hands-on experience developing customer-facing platforms in modern languages (Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, C++, etc.), with demonstrated application of proven design principles (SOLID, design patterns, etc.).
• Strong experience applying Domain-Driven Design in modular, service-oriented, API-first architectures, and best practices in designing, scaling, and monitoring distributed systems (REST APIs, message passing, asynchronous solutions, etc.).
• Understanding the implications of maintaining a production platform—supporting readability, testability, and continuous refactoring. You apply a data-driven approach to improving performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Proven product mindset, leading teams to create clear roadmaps and deliver iterative technical solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms, ideally Amazon AWS.
• A continuously learning professional who follows the latest trends and can pragmatically and strategically evaluate the adoption of new technologies.
• MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Technical expertise: strong background in backend programming using core backend languages (Java/C#/C++/…), with bonus points for PHP.
• Software engineering quality principles and best practices: DDD, testing practices, engineering best practices, and the ability to coach and train large teams in these areas.
• Experience designing and delivering technology roadmaps.
• Experience with architecture for online web platforms, preferably transactional.
• Significant experience as an individual contributor engineer in backend systems and high-traffic, customer-facing platforms.
• Experience in affiliate, gaming, betting, or similar industries is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud platforms (especially AWS).
• Previous experience as a full-stack developer (Svelte, React, Vue, Node.js/TypeScript).
