To support our growth, we’re looking for a Data Engineer who will own our data pipelines, shape the future of our ETL/ELT architecture. This is a unique opportunity to join an ambitious, international team at the forefront of cultural AI.

Your responsibilities

Pipeline Ownership

• Design, build, and maintain scraping pipelines for multiple sources through APIs and BigQuery
• Ensure raw data is consistently stored and organized in a centralized data layer (single source of truth for downstream processing)

Architecture & Future-Proofing

• Identify architectural gaps and implement modern data architecture (e.g., medallion architecture with bronze/silver/gold layers)
• Define and introduce standards and best practices for ETL/ELT jobs

Monitoring & Reliability

• Improve monitoring and alerting systems for better reliability
• Develop proactive issue detection and automated recovery strategies
• Refine data quality checks and pipeline SLAs

Database & Storage

• Manage and optimize MongoDB (Atlas): indexing, schema optimization, archiving, performance tuning
• Explore and lead transition toward scalable modern platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, or similar)

Collaboration

• Partner with Data Science to deliver reliable, high-quality datasets for training and production
• Work with Backend and Product teams to ensure data availability meets product requirements
• Act as a hands-on contributor
• Align with the Head of Engineering on long-term backend strategy and standards

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years of experience in this position
• Strong programming skills in Python(PySpark, Pandas, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT design and orchestration(Airflow or similar)
• Deep knowledge of MongoDB (Atlas)and relational databases
• Experience with AWS cloud services(S3, ECS, Lambda, etc.)
• Strong background in Unix/Linux environments(scripting, process management, scheduling)
• Ability to design and scale modern data architectures
• Leadership mindset: able to own the function and represent Data Engineering in cross-team discussions
