Linux System Engineer (Remote Digital Tower)

When it comes to Air Traffic Management, using the latest digital tower technologies from Frequentis, airports can futureproof their ATC operations at significantly lower cost than renovating or rebuilding a conventional tower. With a digital tower, operated locally or remotely, existing staff resources can work more flexibly and efficiently to manage growing volumes of traffic. A Frequentis remote tower solution is fully scalable from a single instance to a multi remote tower centre in which a central team of controllers manages multiple airports. 

​Your Role​

We are looking for a System Engineer who will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, high-availability Linux-based systems that support the Remote Digital Tower infrastructure, ensuring seamless and reliable air traffic management operations.

Working Model

• Hybrid working model with occasional home office

• Regular business travel to Vienna (approximately once per week)

• International business travel approximately 25% of the time (mainly Germany)

• Company cars are available for travel to Vienna

Main Responsibilities

• Installing and integrating systems and system components into existing system environments

• Assisting our customers with their technical queries about the operation, configuration and service of the serviced system

• Documentation and analysis of reported incidents and problems

• Coordinating and carrying out root cause analyses and remedies

• Designing, planning and technically executing changes and extensions to existing systems (change requests)

• Coordinating with product development teams and/or development teams on error analysis and troubleshooting

• Site acceptance with customers

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (particularly RHEL), including updates, upgrades & troubleshooting issues

• Bash scripting

• Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)

• Experience with various storage technologies

• Experience with networking

• Understanding of clustering concepts​

• Analytical skills to localize errors and sources of errors in distributed systems

• Precise and thorough documentation abilities
