School Psychologist

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:

​Cambridge International School, Bratislava, is looking for an experienced, registered School Psychologist to join our School Support Team. You will play a central role in safeguarding the mental health and well-being of our pupils, supporting teachers and parents, and contributing to a positive whole-school culture. You will work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, form teachers and the Senior Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities: 

The work of the school psychologist is structured around four core pillars:

Counselling —individual and group counselling for pupils (e.g. stress management, personal difficulties,  adjusting to school), career guidance, and feedback to parents and teachers on educational challenges.

Preventive activities — homeroom sessions and prevention programmes focused on building class cohesion, developing empathy, and preventing risky behaviour (bullying, addictions, self-harm).

Diagnostic activities —assessing the classroom environment and identifying pupils' specific educational or emotional needs (e.g.work with gifted pupils or children with special needs); orientational diagnostics within the school's support levels, with referral to CPP / ŠCPP for comprehensive assessment when needed.

Intervention and crisis support —immediate assistance in sudden psychological and stressful situations (family crises, trauma, loss of a loved one) and constructive conflict resolution (mediation between pupils or between teacher and pupil).

In addition, the School Psychologist:

• works as an active member of the School Support Team and contributes to multidisciplinary case discussions,
• supports the safeguarding process in line with the school's Safeguarding Policy and Slovak child-protection legislation,
• maintains professional documentation in compliance with Act No. 242/2025 Coll. on Psychological Activity,
• contributes to the school's well-being strategy and the continuous improvement of pastoral care.

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:

• Registration with the Slovak Chamber of Psychologists and a valid licence to provide psychological activity under Act No. 242/2025 Coll.
• Strong working knowledge of Slovak educational and child-protection legislation (Acts 138/2019, 245/2008, 305/2005, 242/2025Coll.); familiarity with international safeguarding standards (KCSIE) is highly valued.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and team-working skills, with a calm and confident professional manner.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
