Senior Tester - Backend Core

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:

We are a product-focused company looking for a Senior Backend QA Engineer to join our Backend Core team in Bratislava.

In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of quality for backend services and APIs. You will actively participate in the development lifecycle, help define testing strategies, and ensure the reliability, performance, and stability of our core backend systems.

You will work closely with backend developers, DevOps, and other QA engineers, with the opportunity to mentor less experienced testers and influence quality and automation practices across the team.

Your work will have a direct impact on the quality and success of our products.

Key Responsibilities

• ​Take ownership of testing and quality for backend services and APIs
• Design, execute, and maintain manual and exploratory tests for complex backend systems
• Perform API, integration, and non-functional testing (performance, reliability, error handling)
• Identify, log, track, and clearly document defects and risks
• Define and improve test strategies, test scenarios, and testing processes
• Collaborate closely with backend developers and DevOps during refinement, development, and release phases
• Mentor and support other testers in the team
• Contribute to test automation (primarily API/integration level) where it adds value
• Continuously improve quality standards and testing practices

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on backend systems
• Proven experience with backend and API testing (REST APIs, Postman or similar tools)
• Ability to test complex, distributed, or data-driven systems
• Strong skills in writing clear manual test cases, test scenarios, and test documentation
• Experience with defect tracking and reporting
• Basic knowledge of IIS
• Experience with Azure DevOps / TFS or JIRA
• Experience with test automation frameworks
• Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language:
  JavaScript, Python, Bash/PowerShell, C#, or .NET
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

​Nice to Have

• Experience in a leadership or mentoring role
• Understanding of databases beyond basic SQL
• Knowledge of Docker or virtualization technologies
• Experience with performance or load testing (e.g. Gatling)
• ISTQB certification
