Intellectual Property Professional

Náplň práce, právomoci a zodpovednosti:
- Carry out Intellectual Property (IP) strategy for specific business areas by using both patents and trade secrets effectively
- Advise R&D line management on conceptual aspects of IP portfolio building/development and exploitation
- Manage selected parts of the IP portfolio with respect to IP filing strategy and portfolio maintenance
Together with the support of Law, IP & Compliance department:
- Identify new inventions that could be patented
- Draft and process patent applications
- Coordinate with external lawyers for international patent matters
- Represent Covestro in patent disputes in Europe/Germany
- Analyze competitors' patents to determine if they're valid and if Covestro might be infringing
- Provide guidance on managing risks related to other companies' patents

Požiadavky na zamestnanca:
- University degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering (PhD preferred)
- European and/or national Patent Attorney certification (or close to completing exams) is a must
- Up to 3 years working in IP
- Experience with patent applications, legal proceedings, and enforcement
- Previous work as Legal Counsel is beneficial (especially in global companies or law firms)
- Fluent English
- Ability to identify and handle various IP issues beyond patents
- Problem-solving skills using cross functional approaches
- Capable of training R&D and business teams on IP matters
- Familiar with patent databases and electronic filing systems
- Ability to navigate various patent information systems and databases
