This role is within Synpulse’s Centre of Excellence and is part of a new Reinsurance Accounting team supporting a UK-based specialist (Re) Insurance client company. This role involves assisting with analysis, reporting, and controls to ensure effective management of reinsurance activities. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their skills in reinsurance accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of outwards reinsurance processes within the client company
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reinsurance transaction processing including but not limited to:
  • Support of the monthly close process
  • Quota Share statement creation
  • Contract Capture
  • Premium adjustments
• Support the coordination of claim recoveries by working alongside the client’s claims department
• Conduct analysis, commentary, and variance reporting as required
• Help prepare broker/reinsurer reporting, including statements/bordereau
• Collaborate with internal control and audit functions as required
• Provide input and assistance on financial reporting and reinsurance finance processes
• Review and improve data accuracy and controls to support close processes
• Drive improvements in efficiency and control leading to increased accuracy more timely processing.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (progress towards an audit professional qualification is considered a plus)

• 2+ years of relevant experience in an insurance/reinsurance company or similar role.
• Basic knowledge/experience in ceded reinsurance processes
• Proficiency in English (C1 or above).

• Strong interest in and understanding of reinsurance practices, including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance, and associated processes.
• Some familiarity with trends in the insurance industry and eagerness to learn more.
• Willingness to develop technical and analytical expertise, adapting to current technologies.
• Proven ability to organise work effectively, with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
• Eagerness to contribute and receive guidance in a dynamic team environment.
