Position Summary:
We are looking for a Data Specialist responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and integration of data architecture and database systems within an AWS cloud environment. The role includes developing, administering, and scaling data storage solutions for a large, multifaceted organization using services such as AWS RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Glue, and others.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, building, and maintaining databases and data pipelines that support complex software ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures across cloud environment.
• Create and evaluate data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and document domain-specific models, including source lists and canonical formats.
• Support application integration and schema design in collaboration with development teams.
• Develop and maintain database objects such as tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and functions to support business logic and application performance.
• Manage database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery through backup strategies, replication, and failover configurations.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
• Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and performance audits.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and metadata management.
• Define and implement data management strategies, including continuous improvement goals.
• Implement and maintain data security policies, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Participate in the design and implementation of data governance frameworks, including metadata and data lineage tracking.
• Work closely with software architects, developers, analytics specialists, and service personnel to prepare and optimize data storage for digital platforms.
• Create visualizations of data systems to communicate structure and availability to users and stakeholders.
• Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.
• Document technical solutions, configurations, and processes for knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies, cloud services, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in database design, development, and maintenance within complex software ecosystems.
• Strong proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL, as well as non-relational (NoSQL) databases like DynamoDB, supporting scalable and flexible data modeling across diverse application needs.
• Knowledge of Python scripting.
• You communicate both in English and Slovak.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., RDS Aurora, S3, DynamoDB) and familiarity with cloud-native data architectures, including Data Lakes and distributed systems.
• Expertise in logical and physical database design, particularly for large-scale data growth. Advanced skills in SQL query tuning, indexing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB) and caching technologies (e.g., Redis, Memcached). Familiarity with other storage solutions such as time-series databases (e.g., TimeScaleDB) and graph databases (e.g., Neptune) is a strong plus.
• Experience working in Agile development environments and proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
