About the Team and our Scope

At L&H Claims Solutions, we build and commercialize cloud-native SaaS offerings for Swiss Re Life & Health insurance clients. We offer a portfolio of about three products, in the L&H claims domain offered to clients worldwide. We are a software house within Swiss Re. 
Our team consists of more than 50+ technical professionals with multidisciplinary skills, located in multiple countries, working on these multi-regional, highly available software solutions. 

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Solution Architect to lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise solutions.
You will work closely with product leaders, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to build secure, high-performance applications based on modern architectural principles.
You should have deep expertise in modern Java-based service-based architectures, full-stack development, and cloud-native design, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and enterprise-scale solution development. 

Your responsibilities will be:

• Define and evolve application architecture aligned with enterprise standards like scalability, maintainability and cost effectiveness. 
• Design mission critical solutions using 12-factor App development principles with Spring and Spring Boot 
• Design and develop secure authentication (e.g., Okta, Azure AD) and robust authorization mechanisms 
• Design and document scalable cloud-native infrastructure on Microsoft Azure 
• Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and architecture best practices 
• Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions, open-source tools, and cloud-managed services 
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable and maintainable solution designs 
• Lead and mentor engineering teams on architecture, design, coding, and deployment 
• Perform architecture and code reviews to ensure adherence to quality and security standards 
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes 
• Oversee vulnerability assessments, open-source license usage, and secure coding practices 
• Ensure compliance with governance, data privacy, and industry regulations

o Expert-level proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security 
o Extensive experience designing and building scalable architectures and solutions 
o Experience with authentication and authorization using Okta, Azure AD, and OAuth2/OpenID Connect 
o Proficient in REST APIs, Multithreading, Hibernate ORM/JPA, SQL, RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MS SQL) 
o Strong integration experience (REST, SOAP, ESB, Kafka, RabbitMQ) 
o Experience using IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA
o Experience in SaaS product development and multi-tenant architecture 
o Solid grasp of secure coding standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory and compliance practices 
o Knowledge of profiling and debugging tools like JMeter, App Insights 

Preferable (nice to have, not mandatory) knowledge also about…

o Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud (including services like AKS, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, etc.) 
o Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools – Docker, Kubernetes (AKS) 
o Expertise in CI/CD and Maven/Gradle 
o Bonus: Familiarity with UML and tools like Enterprise Architect, Microsoft Visio 
o Bonus: Previous experience with modern Java Script front end frameworks
o Bonus: Knowledge in Insurance Underwriting, Quartz Scheduler, distributed caching (e.g. Redis, Hazelcast)
