About this position

We are looking for a highly practical and hands-on Senior Research Engineer to help drive our multidisciplinary R&D projects.

Ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in absolutely every sub-discipline of hardware, but absolutely must be someone who thinks in the physical realm—a practical problem solver, not a pure theoretician. The right candidate has a core strength in electronics, mechanics, or system design, and has a strong intuition for how things should be built to survive and thrive in real life. Also, while we are looking for someone with roots in hardware, the candidate should have enough of a grasp on algorithms and software to sit in a room with the Algo team, follow their logic, and ensure the physical hardware can support their computational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Practical System Design: Lead the physical architecture and prototyping of our next-generation systems, focusing on what actually works in practice rather than just on paper.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the crucial bridge between the physical and the digital. Work closely with the software and algorithm teams to align hardware capabilities with software requirements.
• Prototyping & Troubleshooting: Get your hands dirty building, testing, and debugging integrated systems (sensors, electronics, mechanics).
• Pragmatic Decision Making: Help the team navigate the trade-offs between mechanical complexity, electronic constraints, and algorithmic workloads.

Requirements:

• Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, a general STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: Solid background in hardware-focused R&D, product development, or complex systems engineering.
• Hardware Intuition: You don't need to know everything, but you need a strong, broad intuition for real-world hardware, physical constraints, and manufacturing realities.
• Software Literacy: A basic, functional understanding of algorithms, computer vision, or AI concepts so you can communicate effectively with the software side of the house.
